What does the future hold?
I have been working in Product Management for more than 20 years, and people would asked me if I'm bored with this role.
The truth is, the role of a Product Manager keeps evolving. Customers' tastes, and preferences changes with time, and as the technology advances, the way we deliver our Products to our customers, changes as well.
As a Product Manager, I will always champion for the customers' unmet needs, and today, I managed multiple teams in delivering various digital products in an agile manner. I mentor and coached my teams, and stakeholders in agile delivery, creating, and validating user personas, writing user stories, and acceptance criteria, prioritizing product backlog, etc.
It is important for Product Managers to stay in the pulse of what the customer wants, to understand their needs, behaviors, pain points, motivations, and goals.
Also, to keep myself abreast with the latest trends in digital business, and the advancement of technology, I am now taking my Masters in Digital Business from University of Salford (UK). The learning journey has been exciting so far. I gained a lot from my lectures, tutors, and from other students who are made up of professionals from around the world.
Studying for my Masters in Digital Business has given me valuable practical application, and in-depth knowledge in various areas relating to Digital Business, such as, Systems Thinking, Information Technology, IT Security, Big Data, Digital Transformation, Designing a Future Workforce, Creating new business value, Blockchain, IoT, AI technology, Search and Social Media Marketing, and many more.
This has helped me to become a better Product Manager. We should not be complacent in where we are just because we have worked for many years. To be a good Product Manager, we got to have good knowledge domain in 3 main areas; Customers, Business and Technology.
